Constructing Spaces Live Art Programme, at Construction Gallery

April 4, 2012

Here are a few photographs documenting my intervention at Construction Gallery as part of the live art programme on Sunday 18th March. Conversations were initiated between people inside and outside of the gallery using post-its, building up a visual diagram that mapped the dialogue that had taken place and filling the window over the course of the event.

The window of the gallery seemed to be a charged boundary between inside and outside, setting up relationships between people as viewer and viewed. This work aimed instead to use this limit as a place of exchange and playful dialogue, acting as a point of connection.

Interference 2010

August 18, 2010

Documentation from an intervention made as part of Interference 2010, a week of workshops about arts and activism run by ArtsAdmin. The workshop explored how art can be used actively in the world, to challenge the system that’s in place in our society and seek to find new ways of doing things.

Maximizing on the focus placed on the world cup at the time, we took to the streets as eco-refs, giving red cards to people who are making a negative impact on the environment. We went to the Royal Bank of Scotland, one of the world’s largest investors in oil, gas and coal, a trade that is producing irreparable damage on the environment. It was bailed out by £50 billion of public money last year during the financial crisis. We also went to the front of the European Climate Exchange, a company that enables businesses to buy their way out of making carbon emissions. We gave red cards with information on them to business men and took a stand outside these key places.
